My Background
With over 20 years of experience in the fields of helping children and families. I've worked with Healthy Families, providing support, education, and resources to parents and children. Through that work—and my own personal experiences—I’ve seen how vital community connection and access to resources are for families. I hold a bachelor’s degree in educational and interdisciplinary studies and am trained as a Certified home health aide, Community Health Worker, and grant writer, which has strengthened my ability to guide families toward stability, empowerment, and hope.
My reason why
This foundation was birth out of my personal journey as a single mother caring for my son, Michael. Michael has Hunter Syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, epilepsy, chronic asthma, and scoliosis. In 2008, after his bone marrow transplant, doctors told me to “go home and enjoy every moment you can with your child and make memories.” That’s exactly what I’ve done ever since.
I know first hand how challenging it can be to raise a child with special needs—especially as a single parent. My experiences have inspired me to give back and support other single parents who are walking a similar path. I originally started M4M by using my income tax checks back in 2015, until a friend pulled me aside in 2017 to help establish this nonprofit.
The purpose
The purpose of this foundation is to connect families of children with disabilities to the many resources available within the Tampa Bay community. I want single parents to know that you are not alone—there are organizations and people ready to help and support you and your child.
For the past eighteen years, I have devoted my life to caring for my son. Now, my heart’s desire is to help others on their journey. I believe that by supporting one another, we can build stronger families and communities.
